The part question deserves a 3 part response!

1. To everyone who wants to love being single, I think you have the right approach! I encourage anyone and everyone to get to a place where they are happy in life, whatever that means for them. I do think it’s true (even though it’s cliché) that a really important part of life that everyone should experience is to be happy by yourself. I’ve been through a lot of phases of being happy and the others when I was lonely, and, and others when I just hated being single. I made the web series to show off the specific time in my life when I was the most clearly uncomfortable. It’s more about not fitting in than actually about being single. I don’t think it’s a positive way to be, I don’t want the character of the show to be a role model. He is there for us to relate to, or to laugh at, because he makes huge mistakes constantly. Which brings us to part 2.
2. Some of the situations in the show are from real life, and some are just what I imagine I would do today if I was single, or if I wasn’t as self reserved. the basic premise of the pilot episode is almost straight from my life 6 years ago.
Some are things I want to do or say looking back on my single years. So it’s a mix of lots of things but I have definitely paid my dues as a young man who was bad at dating, and wasn’t happy with the situation he was in. I think if I was in the situation today, as an older guy with more experience and confidence, I would find a way to make it work but that’s because I now have a whole new life that I’ve built in NYC after years of being here.
3. The fact that all the beers are Belgian is a pretty amazing coincidence actually. I love Belgian Beer too but I just noticed it is prominent in episode 4 and 5. I think Brooklyn loves Belgian beer in general, that must’ve been a subliminal thing.
